3 Marker Challenge Virtual Playdate
The 3 marker challenge has been around for years and no matter how many times Sammy D watches them, she is always fascinated by the results and differing techniques people use while limited to only 3 colors. Background in case you’ve never heard of the challenge…People are assigned the same coloring sheet and have a large bin of markers. With eyes closed, they pick out 3 random colors and then use only those colors to complete their image. Sometimes there is a time limit, but our house likes to just take its time, to each their own! First decide which images you would like to color with your friends. Crayola.com has wide variety of free sheets you can download! For the older crowd, Madelyn likes choosing coloring sheets from www.art-is-fun.com!
The beauty of making this a virtual playdate is that it gives a reason, topic, or ice breaker for kids to connect. The longer quarantine drags on, we’ve found that the kids are struggling at times to find things to talk about with their friends. The 3 marker challenge is often geared toward younger children but we have found that even tween or teens benefit from coloring and sharing positive time with their friends! Below are some pre-made invites available to download and print.
Simply write in the date, time, and either a link, email or phone number for facetime, zoom, or facebook messenger kids. Combine with some matching coloring sheets and even a pack of brand new markers (Target currently has them on sale for .50!). That’s it!
